  • sauteed cabbage collards with onions for dinner. Very tasty

  • One of today's eggs was light brown like the Delaware's, except she's dead. Could it be that the Buffs have started to lay?

Our chickens are hardly laying now, I know some put lights on in winter but we have decided not to do that. - Our rooster quit crowing a few weeks ago and a chick that we thought was a hen turned out to be a rooster..I heard a weak, funny crowing this morning. We are now thinking that the big rooster quit crowing because he new the other one would get after him and perhaps he wasn't up to the fight..Chickens are funny. xo

  2. I wish our rooster would stop crowing! He crows more than ever now that the Buff cockerels are getting big. And chase them! He's constantly chasing somebody! It's driving me nuts. LOL. Chickens are funny though, you're right about that. I agree about not lighting the coop either. We didn't and don't plan to. That's where all those dozens of frozen eggs come in handy!
