Day 13 of 365

Besides eating our food, I've done nothing toward furthering independent eating. Until today. Today I planted cabbage seeds for indoor starts. Other than that, it's been raining for 3 days straight. We've had 3.75 inches so far this month. The ground is super saturated; not conducive to working outside at all.

Here are the weather stats since Saturday.

Sunday, Jan. 13
Low: 57
High: 67
Rainfall: 0.2"

Monday, Jan 14
Low: 60
High: 65
Rainfall: 0.5"

Tuesday, Jan. 15
Low: 49
High: 62
Rainfall: 0.75"

Wed. Jan. 16
Low: 46
High: 53
Rainfall: 0.85"

I've been thinking about this challenge to myself, and how to best approach it. Carla said she planted something, put up something, or stratigized on eating the food. I realize there are other things as well, like compost and mulch, all of which are working toward food independence. We do eat some of our homegrown food every day, but this year it's been less; I reckon because we had a smaller summer garden and hardly any winter garden at all. That was basically because of the kitchen remodel, but that is behind us now. I reckon that's why the challenge was a good idea. It encourages me to work harder at this goal.
