The other day I put a thermometer on the shed, to compare the difference between that and the thermometer on the back porch. This morning the one on the porch reported a low of 33° F. The one on the shed read 29°. I knew the house gave off some heat, but I didn't know how much. Other than that, it's going to be a clear, sunny day.
Low: 29° High: 52° F
Total rainfall for January week 1 is 0.75"
I have dehydrated blueberries and Swiss chard in the pantry and have started feeding them to the goats as a top dressing. They love this. This year I need to grow and dehydrate more for them. Seems a good way to give them vitamins and minerals.
Cleaned out half the chicken coop and one goat stall, to become a new compost pile. I'll get to the rest on another day.
Foraged acorns for the goats. When they see me gathering, they beg for a taste.
4 eggs today! Looks like the Buffs are laying just fine now after winter moult. I'll be curious as to how my 3 year old hens do. This will be their 4th year as layers.
